SHORT DESCRIPTION
Located along the Bohai Sea, the Qinhuangdao Marriott Resort overlooks 2.8 kilometers of golden coastline and boasts the optimal coastal resources rarely seen in northern China. Guests will relish the fabulous sea view wherever they go as the public area is arranged along the perimeter of the architecture and the guest room is designed with a tilt of 45°. Additionally, figurative marine creatures and mild nautical elements are introduced into the space. Through the use of materials, colors, lighting, and art installations, an immersive deep sea scenario is staged, which enriches the oceanic experience from the dimensions of time and space. The charm of the sea is ubiquitous in the space: the nearly 10-meter-high whale installation in the lobby, the greenish blue acrylic brick wall inspired by the Shanhai Pass, the sailboat-like artistic light groups, the motion-activated wall, the reef-shaped stools and bookcases recessing like coastlines in the lobby lounge, the 3D printed sea-wave pictures and jellyfish-like lights in the guest rooms, and more... What’s worth mentioning is that a complementary design principle that values the unity of opposites is applied in the project to create elegant space rhythm and ambience in a systematic way. Considering the proximity to the sea, the decoration is dominated by corrosion- and moisture-resistant materials and abrasion-resistant stones to enhance the durability of the space and facilities. The artistic installation at the entrance of the MANO bar, lighted by flashing LED, is made of waste wine bottles to arouse the awareness of environmental protection and encourage actions. Furthermore, every guest room is equipped with a magnetic attraction door to the terrace. Once opened, the indoor air conditioner will automatically stop running to reduce energy consumption, delivering guests an uncommon low-carbon vacation.
