SHORT DESCRIPTION

Echoes is a mixed reality application designed for Alzheimer's patients. This interactive tool uses maps and journaling to help users reconnect with cherished memories from their past. It also provides personalized games aimed at stimulating cognitive functions to prevent further decline, thus fostering cognitive maintenance. Echoes aims to trigger cherished memories, enrich the lives of individuals with Alzheimer's, and provide a sense of hope and joy through a personalized experience. Echoes is primarily designed to help early-stage Alzheimer's patients slow the progression of the disease and maintain their cognitive abilities. It also aims to bring joy to their lives. Alzheimer's disease often causes memory loss, making it difficult for patients to remember recent events or recognize familiar faces. This significantly impacts their daily life and can cause distress for both patients and their family members. As Alzheimer's affects individuals progressively, Echoes requires the support of a caretaker or family member. This support not only aids the user but also fosters bonding opportunities. Secondary users, such as caregivers and family members, assist with the initial setup and guide users throughout the experience. Echoes is designed to help Alzheimer's patients by allowing them to re-experience cherished memories through an immersive mixed reality experience. It features personalized games intended to enhance cognitive functions and prevent further decline. Mixed Reality was selected due to its ability to offer genuinely immersive experiences, perfect for revisiting past memories. Features such as the memory map and journaling enable users to return to previous moments, reflect, and document their feelings, establishing a deeper connection for their future selves. The cognitive games aim to strengthen cognitive functions like face-name association, bolstering memory and cognitive abilities. Echoes, sparks treasured memories and enriches lives of those living with Alzheimer's.
