SHORT DESCRIPTION

♦Role and purpose: Aiming to create an exciting station Yumeshima Station is the closest station to the Japan International Exposition to be held in 2025. As a station for the future, we aimed to create a space that would be a destination in its own right, not just a means of transport, as an expression of the way stations and transport will be in the future, and as an exciting space that would be like visiting a pavilion. ♦Design concept: “ISEKAI-Theater” - A station that conveys the appeal of movement and the pulse of life With the theme of “movement”, we have created a variety of theatrical scenes based on five pillars of design rooted in Japanese culture: “origami ceilings, reflective surfaces, flickering lights, authentic materials, and operation and direction”. ♦The “light” that invites you to a different world, the “lit” that illuminates the theater, the “glitter” of life that beats A traditional Japanese gate-shaped lighting expression that connects different spaces and creates symbolism at the boundary. The ceiling, which is made from traditional origami, which represents the spirit of Japanese hospitality, is based on the motif of a “train operation chart” that represents the accuracy of Japanese railway technology. The origami ceiling, which reflects the movement of light and people, becomes a momentary work of art. Just like a theater where people can be led to scenes depicting a variety of Japanese culture and technology and appreciate the various stories, we offer visitors an experience that can only be had here. In order to make people feel the flow of time outside while they are underground, we have adopted a lighting time schedule that takes into account the circadian rhythm. We have also planned the lighting to match the time of day and are working to save energy.
