Its tiered form conveys a rhythmic sense of upward progression. Together with the cloud-shaped lid knob, it symbolizes the auspicious wish of “achieving steady growth and soaring achievement”. At the eaves of the incense box, inlaid brass depicts the Big Dipper constellation, evoking the immensity of the cosmos and history, while embodying the Chinese ideal of harmony between heaven and humanity and the poetic aspiration to “reach for the stars”.
