SHORT DESCRIPTION
Benefits for the town’s community and tourism The Biržai public spaces improvement project includes a comprehensive renovation of areas important to the city with the aim of creating functional, aesthetic and attractive spaces for both residents and tourists. The focal point of the project is a modern 84-metre-long and 2.5-metre-wide bridge over the Apaščia River, which not only improves pedestrian and cyclist traffic between the different parts of town, but it is also becoming a new symbol of the city. This bridge ensures safer and more convenient movement. The park grounds have been revamped and new pedestrian and bicycle paths have been installed, improving connectivity and promoting active leisure. Urban green spaces have been overhauled and new benches, lights and recreation areas have been installed to make public spaces more comfortable and convenient. The spaces near the city’s historic sites have been restored in a way that preserves their cultural value, but also makes them more attractive to visitors. With the integration of new design and infrastructure, these spaces become even more suitable for cultural and social events. New spaces have been designed that are equipped with modern children’s playgrounds as well as courts for teens and adults. This contributes to promoting a healthy lifestyle and bringing the community together. All these changes are meant to create an attractive, modern and vibrant urban environment where residents can enjoy nature, culture and active leisure. Well-maintained public spaces raise city attractiveness, draw in more visitors and encourage investment in local business and tourism.
