SHORT DESCRIPTION
This space was originally a gym and was transformed into a community art space during an economic downturn. Amid the saturated fitness sector, what will the future urban and cultural life of Shenzhen residents be? This mission-oriented thinking gave the project exploratory value. Concept: The Inner Nature—An Insight from Outward to Inward Learning from nature begins with truly seeing it. The nature expressed here is perceived through the heart. The first dimension is seeing oneself—in the open outer corridor, time leaves fleeting impressions, and the passage becomes the exhibition. The second is seeing one’s heart—the enclosed interior glows like the heart’s chamber, inviting stillness. This narrative—from outside to within—creates contrasts of light and shadow, reflecting nature’s duality and offering each visitor a unique experience. Generative Spatial Design Strategy 01-Break the Routine The space has no front desk but offers installations of light and shadow. Two turns remind us to change perspectives—first to purity, then into the hall where time flows like a painting. 02-Step Back The recessed area becomes an external exhibition path. Strolling through, visitors feel light flow freely, returning nature to itself. 03-Transition Folding transforms straight lines into progression and rhythm. As you walk slowly, you notice accidental light—understanding that everything is a landscape and time is precious. 04-Slow Down Stillness breeds wisdom. Slowing the body harmonizes the mind, awakening inner awareness. 05-Light Leaks Cracks are where light enters—life’s fractures become understanding that brings illumination. 06-Heart The “mystery box” is a multifunctional hall—blind yet perceptive. Closing one’s eyes enhances inner strength. The axis ends in the “heart,” symbolizing harmony and the unity of body and mind.
